Description
Designed and manufactured in-house, Professional Awesome Vortex Generators help you take control of airflow. By energizing the slow-moving boundary layer, vortex generators can delay local flow separation and aerodynamic stall. When placed correctly, this can improve the effectiveness of wings, spoilers, and diffusers, often while reducing overall drag.
• 3D printed from ABS plastic
• 2″ x 0.75″ base, 1″ tall
• 10 vortex generators per package
• Install at a 15-degree angle to the direction of airflow
• Best used upstream of a wing, spoiler, or diffuser where flow separation is likely
Recommended Attachment Method
For most applications, we recommend Automotive-Grade 3M VHB™ double-sided tape. It provides a clean, low-profile installation without drilling and is suitable for painted metal, composites, and other smooth exterior surfaces when properly prepared.
Thickness selection guidelines:
• Flat, smooth surfaces: Use thinner tape (~0.4–1.0 mm) for a lower-profile bond while maintaining strong adhesion.
• Surface mismatch or curvature: Use thicker tape (~1.1–1.6 mm). The added foam thickness accommodates slight irregularities and improves contact area.
• High-load areas or significant thermal cycling such as track use, high speeds, or heat exposure: Use approximately 1.1 mm or thicker foam to improve stress distribution and durability under vibration and heat.
Installation notes:
• Clean bonding surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol.
• Lightly scuff smooth surfaces to improve adhesion if appropriate.
• Apply firm, even pressure during installation.
• Allow 24–72 hours for full adhesive cure before sustained high-speed use.
For extreme applications or competition use, consider supplementing tape with mechanical fasteners.
